Theobroma Cacao ~ familiar to many of us as chocolate, the mouthwatering sweet treat that is pressed & neatly formed into uniform rectangles, often wrapped up in gilded foil. But what is the story of this well-celebrated, well-known and yet mysterious plant?

Much like its distinguished flavors, Cacao holds notes of both bitterness and sweetness in its rich history. Originating in ancient Aztec culture, the medicine was later brought to Europe on its way to becoming a global commodity.

Melt into exploration of Cacao’s sweet saga with Giulia Conte (YA 200H Certified Instructor).

In this workshop we will:

  • Begin with a Ceremonial Cacao Circle, interwoven with informative narration of the history and healing benefits of raw cacao.
  • Be guided through a soothing, heart-centered yoga asana flow, facilitated by the energetic presence of this ancient medicine.
  • Participants will receive take-home literature that reiterates some of the note-worthy benefits and facts of the cacao plant.

*In participating in this workshop, you are supporting Guatemalan family farms, who earn their living from independently growing and selling their organically cultivated cacao. For more information on the family, please ask Giulia as she is happy to spread their story.

Delve Deep

w/Melissa McKim, RYT

This is an hour and half practice for those looking to truly deepen their yoga practice. In this practice we will practice asana (movement- hatha), pranayama (breathwork), and mantra. In this practice we will also introduce mudras, bandhas, and kundalini kriyas to move energy. This class will be offered once a month. Each month we will learn a new mantra of which the students can spend 40 days chanting this mantra if it resonates with them. We will also teach you how to use a mala.

Restorative Yoga, Massage & Reiki
This 2 hour workshop incorporates Restorative Yoga and Reiki, a combination that will guide your mind and body to a deeper state of relaxation. Breathing and meditation techniques to calm the mind and props will be used to allow for a gentle, passive stretch. No experience necessary. This is a no work workshop. What a great way to introduce someone new to yoga. Come pamper yourself with a total mind/body escape.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. During Reiki sessions, one feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation, and feelings of peace, security, and well-being.
