What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation, and feelings of peace, security, and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results.

Yin, Mantra & the Harmonium
October 22nd 5pm-6:30pm
$25 with Melissa McKim, RYT and Lauren Chalas, RYT
Why do we use Sanskrit? Sankrit is the ancient vibrational language of Yoga. And like other words that have been repeated/chanted for centuries such as ‘amen’, these words carry powerful energy. Come experience this Yin practice while listening to the sounds of Sanskrit mantra as sung by Lauren Chalas as she plays the beautiful harmonium. She will lead us together in singing a mantra together (Kirtan) at the end of practice.

2:30pm- 3:30pm- Yin Yoga w/Melissa– Cultures around the world have different methods of moving universal life force/energy.  The Japanese move Ki through Reiki (laying hands). In India, and now throughout the world, yoga is used to move life force through controlled breath called Prana (Pranayama).  The Chinese move Qi (‘Chee’) through the practice of Tai Chi.  In the practice, we use yin posture held for 3-5 minutes to unblock Qi in the meridian lines of the body.  This practice differs from a “yang” class, like a Vinyasa, Hatha or Power, that focuses on the muscles.  A yin practice works the connective tissue.  This style invites the practitioner to just “be” with oneself and all of the sensations that arise in the physical, emotional and spiritual body.

3:30pm- 4:00pm Guided Meditation w/Tricia– This “extended Savasana” will be the perfect end to your blissful day at the farm. Before you leave and travel back to your life outside the farm, take some time to feel, connect and absorb the peace and calm of your day in this special place.

See you in the Fall!
