I started practicing yoga in 1999 during a period of debilitating anxiety and panic attacks. Yoga, particularly the breath work, brought me back to life quickly and I have practiced ever since. My classes focus on the function of asana over form and how to use the body and breath to connect to the mind. I believe in living in alignment with nature and the Ayurvedic clock. I believe in the teachings of Krishnamacharya; that anyone can practice yoga, yet not all styles of yoga are right for everyone's unique bodies.
My current passions are fascia release and acupressure to free up tension in the physical body and any blockages in the energetic body.

After enjoying my personal yoga practice for over 10 years I took the leap into yoga teacher training with Melissa at Unplug and Be Mindful Energy Center & I haven’t looked back. Guiding inclusive classes for all levels in Hatha, Gentle Hatha & Yin yoga means everything to me. In our classes we breathe, move, reflect & laugh, & it fills my heart. Also filling my heart is my husband, my three children Olivia, James and Ronan & the best dog ever Cooper. Join me & open your heart with breath, movement and love.
We offer a wide variety of yoga classes. As we continue to grow & change, so will our classes. Below are brief summaries of most of the classes that we offer. Remember, every teacher will put their own signature on the class, so no two classes will be the same.
Marcela Heffron, certified Barre, Yoga and Pilates instructor will focus on a combination of these three practices including ballet, use of light weights & using the wall leg toning!
This class focuses on core conditioning (front, back and sides of core). We will use yoga postures & other forms of mobility (sliders, bands, balls) to access the deep core.
Flow & Let Go is a vinyasa flow practice & depending on the teacher leading the class, will end with a few restorative postures, meditation or guided yoga nidra.
This practice is great for students looking for a gentler, slower practice.
Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches us that chi (prana) moves through energetic pathways called meridians. These meridians are located closer to the surface of the body within the fascia. For example, the IT band that runs along the side of the leg on both sides of the body is the Gall Bladder meridian. Have you ever noticed if you run your finger along this band that it may appear sensitive or sore? We will use acupoint balls to facilitate gentle pressure (acupressure) to the meridian lines and points to gently stress the fascia and encourage that flow of chi (prana - energy). We will also roll the deeper fascia to help improve mobility as we follow the fascia lines.
Pilates Yoga Fusion is a hybrid class where Pilates core movements are integrated into a vinyasa flow.
Slow down & soothe your soul during this all levels vinyasa Soulful Slow Flow yoga class. This class will include intentional, slower-paced mindful movements synchronized with breath, followed by Yin or Restorative postures which will lead you to stillness. You can expect to be challenged & encouraged while receiving opportunities to reflect, restore, & renew during this class.
Stretch & Restore is a gentle stretching class with restorative yoga breaks. This class uses props & hands on assistance to find comfort in every posture on the mat. Breathing techniques will be used to deepen stretches (naturally using the rhythm of our breath to find release in the muscles). Meditation techniques will be offered in restorative postures allowing both the mind & body to rest.
Vinyasa Flow classes focus on moving fluidly & thoughtfully through the yoga poses (asanas). Expect to build some heat, increase flexibility & muscle strength. Students will be offered modifications & variations to help make the postures accessible to all levels.
Yin yoga focuses on gently lengthening the fascia in a safe & sustained manner. All tissues, bones & joints need an appropriate amount of stress on them, to function as intended. This class is meditative in nature & can be more challenging for the restless mind. Meditation focal points, use of props, sound & touch are all used to help you stay in each pose.
Poses are held in a Yin way for 3-5 minutes targeting certain areas of the physical body as well as the energetic body. This practice can allow for more mobility & range of motion when practiced over time. This is the perfect class to create balance in our bodies & our minds.
Yoga Sculpt is a strong & empowering class. This class is perfect for those who want to feel like they are building heat & muscle strength while staying true to the traditional yoga practice. It is a blend of Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga focused on strengthening the body with use of a variety of (optional) props. Our goal is to help you feel balanced, strong and calm after taking this class!
This class is a space for tweens & teens to come together & experience the benefits of yoga. We will explore movement, breathwork, mindfulness & meditation. No experience necessary!
